Every phrase you meet goes through the same five steps. You only do the watching and the talking.
2 · Meaning
Get it in your language.
You get the meaning in context, not a dictionary list. Idioms and phrasal verbs stay together as one phrase, so “on the fence” means “not decided yet”, not a fence.
Explanations come in your language, one of 110, right-to-left included. The pronunciation is spelled in your own alphabet.
3 · Context
Every phrase keeps its scene.
When you save a phrase, its sentence and its source come with it. Bundles name themselves after the show or page. Later, that sentence becomes your review card.
4 · Memory
It comes back at the right time.
New phrases start in the Pool. Then Smart Review brings each one back after 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 days. From level 3, you fill in the gap in your own sentence.

5 · Speaking
Then you say it out loud.
Talk with an AI voice coach in real time. It practices the exact phrases you saved and moves through your cards for you. When you get stuck, it helps in your language for a moment, then goes back to English.

Is Subturtle free?
Yes. The Starter plan is free, with no card and no time limit. It includes hover translation, up to 200 saved phrases a month, unlimited Smart Review and a taste of the AI tools. Paid plans add more saves, text chats and voice minutes.
Which language can I practice?
English. Subturtle is built for people who are learning English. Meanings and explanations come in your own language: we support 110 of them, including right-to-left languages like Persian and Arabic.
Where does it work?
In Chrome on a computer. On any web page, select text to see what it means. On YouTube and Netflix, hover the captions. You review and practice in the Subturtle dashboard.
How is the AI coach different from a chatbot?
The coach practices the phrases you saved, in the sentences where you found them. It moves through your cards by itself, and when you get stuck it helps in your language for a moment. It does not give you scores. It is a patient partner for practice.
How does the 3-day free trial work?
The trial is for the Learner plan and needs a card. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing. If you keep it, your card is charged for Learner. You can cancel any time from your account.
Do you collect my viewing history?
No. The extension only uses the subtitles and text you interact with, to translate them and to save your phrases. We do not collect your viewing history, and we do not sell your data.
Who makes Subturtle?
CodeBridger Ltd, a small company in the UK. Payments go through Stripe, so your card details never reach our servers.
Is there a mobile app, or a version for Firefox or Safari?
Not yet. Today, Subturtle is a Chrome extension.
